In the era of globalization understanding cultural differences and particularities has become a vital soft skill and an important ingredient for working successfully in multicultural teams. While studying and working abroad as well as living in multicultural societies has become commonplace, cultural differences are still a major cause for misunderstanding and confusion. When you are new to Germany some customs and cultural peculiarities (e.g. regarding time management, communications or planning) might seem irritating at first because they differ from the conventions of your own culture.
In this workshop you will be introduced to different cultural standards and thereby develop a better understanding of what makes your international colleagues or clients tick, as well as improve your understanding of a variety of intercultural situations. The workshop makes use of short interdisciplinary, theoretical presentations, group exercises, role-plays and discussions.

I am pretty sure that most of you will think: I know English! And I have to agree; most of us have a good command of the language, BUT are we really familiar with English as it is used in a tertiary context?
In this course, you will read, write, speak and listen to English as it ia used in the fields of natural sciences and engineering. This will give you the confidence to start/continue your studies with new skills.
