Reinforcement Learning is a machine learning method in which the computer learns from experience. The advantage of this method is that we as programmers don’t need to know much about a problem in order to successfully solve it.
The course offers an introduction into the basic concepts of Reinforcement Learning. Following this, the participants can test their newly gained knowledge by planning and implementing an AI for a simple game and experience how their program gradually masters the game, developing from an absolute beginner to proficient player.

Is computer science sustainable? Or is it maybe even the enabler of the sustainable life of the future? Or should we go back to pen and pencil?
This will be the topic of this seminar, where we will discuss various aspects and the relation of sustainability and computer science. In this context, we will focus on the Internet: How can the Internet support a sustainable development? How can it support ourselves to move to a more sustainable way of life? Is the www sustainable itself? What’s about the buzz word „Green Web“?
We will discuss how the sustainability can be improved and motivated and develop various ideas for our daily live.

This course offers a practice-oriented introduction into the development of systems that are able to recognize and process the emotional (affective) state of a user. With this emotional knowledge, the systems are able to adapt to the user and can for example improve human-machine interaction. The systems regarded in this course process physiological signals such as skin conductance, heart rate or muscle tension.
The participants learn how systems can acquire and analyse correlations between emotions and measurable physiological parameters. During exercises, they will implement different methods of signal processing and data mining.
