Call for Contributions 2026 – An Invitation to All Women Professionals!

From 24 August to 4 September 2026, the University of Bremen will host the 29th International Informatica Feminale as an in-person event. Women computer scientists and women working in interdisciplinary areas related to computer science are warmly invited to develop and offer courses.

Course proposals may be submitted until 12 April 2026.

Both current and foundational topics from the full spectrum of computer science and related fields are welcome.

Informatica Feminale provides an open, exploratory teaching and learning environment and offers compact annual courses in computer science for female students from all types of higher education institutions, as well as for women interested in continuing education. It addresses equally the beginning of university studies, retention in degree programs, the transition into professional life, and lifelong learning at university level.

To create a diverse program for different stages of study, we are seeking lectures, seminars, and workshops from across the entire range of subject areas. In particular, there is strong demand—especially from undergraduate students—for courses that teach fundamental skills. Formats that combine theory and practical units are of particular interest, including focused modules that deepen regular academic courses. Specialized topics from all areas are also welcome. Events that strengthen female students’ social skills are likewise encouraged. At the same time, the summer university aims to promote professional networking among female students and to provide university-level continuing education for women in computer science alongside their careers.

We are looking for multi-day courses and one-day workshops. Lecturers are invited to use the summer university as an experimental space for innovative teaching, for example by integrating sustainability topics more intensively into their computer science courses and testing them with highly motivated participants.

Teaching is remunerated at 47 euros per teaching hour delivered. In addition, we reimburse travel expenses (rail, second class) and accommodation costs in accordance with the Bremen Travel Expenses Act.

Informatica Feminale sees itself as a network for women. We exchange ideas about the technical and social changes we encounter every day and that we help shape as technology professionals. Courses and workshops with interdisciplinary perspectives and with relevance to study or professional life are especially welcome.

Within the Computer Science degree program at the University of Bremen, Informatica Feminale is part of the regular teaching program. Course selection will be carried out by a program committee. International lecturers are very welcome. The languages of instruction are German and English.
