Gender Studies in Qualification Works in MINT – Case Examples
How can gender and diversity aspects be integrated in studies and qualification works in natural, technical and planning science? With the study program „Gender Pro MINT“ the Technical University of Berlin opens new possibilities for students in MINT and planning. The lecture will present case examples from lecture research of this study program, e.g. „Acklowledging Violence by Semantic Search“ (Computer Science), „Rebel Girl“ (Engineering), „Has Mathematics a Secretary-Problem?“ (Mathematics) and „Typically Girly?!“ (Urban and Landscape Architecture).
Prof. Dr. Petra Lucht, Diploma-Physicist and Sociologist, helds the professorship „Gender in MINT und Planung / Feminist Studies in Science, Technology and Society (Feminist STS)“ since August 2017 at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Women’s and Gender Research (in German ZIFG) at the Berlin University of Technology. To her working fields belong the gender studies with focus on natural, technical and planning science, the Science and Technology Studies (STS), methods and theories of social research, field culture research as well as knowledge research and the development of inter- and transdisciplinary lecture and research.
