The Faserinstitut Bremen (FIBRE) was founded in 1969 and, as a scientific institution at the University of Bremen, undertakes research and development tasks in the fields of fibers and fiber composites with a staff of over 60. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the topic of fiber composites, the Fiber Institute is connected with numerous research institutions and industrial partners throughout Germany and is active in successful networks. The institute operates a pilot plant as well as an accredited testing laboratory and works on both application and basic research-oriented issues.
