Technology for the Future of Women
There are many possible futures for women and for technology.
Imagine one in which, worldwide, women have half of the impact on technology,
in research, teaching, development, deployment, and policy.
-
How will the world and the workplace have to change for this to happen?
-
If women have this much impact, how will the technology change?
-
If women have this much impact, how will the world change?
I believe that such a future is both desirable and possible. However, current
trends make it clear that it will not happen unless we take action to push
in that direction. It will take courage, vision and international cooperation,
but the possibilities are worth the effort. The Institute for Women and
Technology will work towards that future by developing models for bringing
women's needs to the design process and women's genius to the task of meeting
those needs. I look forward to interactive discussions and to learning about
your visions and dreams as well as about the relationship of women to technology
in Germany. |
